Tips & Tricks (5)
- Emulsify with Patience 🥣Whisk the mustard, honey, and vinegar together first, then add olive oil slowly in a thin stream while continuously whisking to create a stable, creamy emulsion that won't separate.
- Mince Shallots Finely ✂️Use a microplane or very sharp knife to mince shallots into tiny, uniform pieces so they distribute evenly throughout the vinaigrette and won't overpower delicate salads.
- Balance Your Acid-to-Oil Ratio ⚖️Use a 1:3 ratio of acid (vinegar plus lemon juice) to oil for a perfectly balanced vinaigrette that coats greens without overwhelming them or becoming greasy.
- Add Herbs at the Right Time 🌿Reserve half your fresh herbs to stir in just before serving, keeping them bright and vibrant, while adding heartier herbs like thyme earlier so their flavors fully infuse.
- Make it Room Temperature First 🌡️Allow all ingredients, especially olive oil, to reach room temperature before whisking together to ensure proper emulsification and prevent the oil from solidifying.
