Ingredients
- 10 ½ ounces - firm white fish fillets
- salt and pepper
- 1 - egg
- 1 ½ tablespoons - Dijon mustard
- 1 ½ tablespoons - all-purpose flour
- ⅓ cup - breadcrumbs
- ¼ tsp - dried oregano
- ¼ tsp - chili flakes
- some oil
Instructions
- Pat the fish dry with paper towels. Leave the fillets whole or cut them into thick strips, if desired. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
- In a shallow bowl, whisk together the egg and mustard. Place the flour in a second shallow bowl. In a third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, oregano, and chili flakes. Lightly spray (or brush) the air fryer basket with oil.
- Dredge each fish fillet in the flour, then dip it into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, coat it evenly in the breadcrumb mixture, gently pressing the breadcrumbs onto the fish so they adhere.
- Arrange the breaded fish fillets in a single layer in the prepared air fryer basket, making sure they don't touch. Cook at 400°F (200°C) for 10 minutes, turning halfway through, until the coating is golden brown and the fish flakes easily with a fork. Thicker fillets may need 12 to 15 minutes. For an even crispier coating, lightly spray the fillets with oil before air frying.
