  • 2 pound - lean ground beef
  • 1  - onion
  • 3 cloves - garlic
  • 2 teaspoon - cumin powder
  • 2 tablespoon - chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon - garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon - dried oregano
  • 1 ½ teaspoon - salt
  • ½ teaspoon - black pepper
  • 1 can - black beans
  • 2 cans - kidney beans
  • 2 cans - diced tomatoes, with juice
  • 1 can - diced tomatoes with green chilis, with juice
  • 2 cans - tomato sauce

  1. Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and sauté ground beef until it releases fat, breaking it up with a spatula (about 4–5 minutes).
  2. Add diced onion and cook until softened (about 4–5 minutes).
  3. Add garlic, cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. Stir for another 30 seconds to bloom the spices.
  4. Transfer mixture to a 6-quart slow cooker.
  5. Add black beans, kidney beans, diced tomatoes, diced tomatoes with green chilis, and tomato sauce.
  6. Stir well to combine.
  7. Cover and cook on LOW for 6–8 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours.
  8. Season to taste and serve warm.
