Instructions
1
Preheat the oven to 350℉.
2
Grease a 9"x13" baking dish and set aside.
3
Combine cake mix and the 12 ounce can of Dr Pepper in a large bowl. Mix until well combined.
4
Pour the batter into the pan.
5
Bake for 25-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
6
While the cake is cooking, combine the hot fudge and ½ cup of Dr Pepper in a small saucepan over medium heat. Let it simmer for 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
7
Remove from the heat and set aside.
8
After letting the cake cool for 10 minutes, poke the holes in a neat grid and stop just shy of the bottom so slices hold together.
9
Pour the hot fudge mixture into the holes, reserving a small amount of the hot fudge mixture for drizzling.
Frosting
1
Beat butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and Maraschino cherry juice together in a mixing bowl using an electric mixer.
2
Spread the frosting on the cooled cake and decorate it with Maraschino cherries and hot fudge drizzle.

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Perforate Evenly for Maximum Absorption 🍰Use a fork or skewer to create uniformly-spaced holes across the entire cake surface before pouring the Dr Pepper mixture, ensuring the soda and fudge penetrate deeply and evenly throughout.
- Warm Your Dr Pepper Soak 🥤Heat the Dr Pepper to 140-160°F before pouring over the cake—the warmth opens the crumb structure and helps the soda absorb faster while intensifying the caramel-cola flavor throughout.
- Reserve Cherry Juice for Frosting Consistency 🍒Use the maraschino cherry juice to adjust your frosting's consistency instead of milk or cream, adding subtle cherry flavor while maintaining the proper spreading texture.
- Chill Before Final Drizzle ❄️Refrigerate the frosted cake for at least 30 minutes before drizzling the hot fudge—the cold frosting creates a beautiful contrast and prevents the fudge from melting the delicate frosting layer.
- Add Cake Mix to Frosting Base 🎂Mix 1-2 tablespoons of the dry chocolate cake mix into your cream cheese frosting base to enhance chocolate flavor and add slight body, preventing a too-soft frosting after the Dr Pepper soak.
