From the Cook
1/2
Easiest Chocolate Fudge
Instructions
1
|
Line an 8-inch square pan with parchment paper or waxed paper, letting about 2 inches extend beyond two sides of the pan to use as handles.
2
|
Stir together sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, butter, and salt in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until chocolate melts and mixture is smooth, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
3
|
Pour chocolate mixture into prepared pan and smooth with an offset spatula or rubber scraper into an even layer. Let stand at room temperature until fudge is firm enough to hold its shape when cut, about 2 1/2 hours.
4
|
Lift parchment paper and fudge from pan, then cut fudge into 1- to 1 1/2-inch squares. Serve, or chill airtight up to 3 days; bring to room temperature to serve.

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Chocolate Chip Precision 🍫Use high-quality bittersweet chocolate chips with at least 60% cocoa content for a rich, deep chocolate flavor that elevates the entire fudge.
- Smooth Stirring Technique 🥄Stir the mixture continuously and gently in a figure-eight pattern to ensure even melting and prevent scorching, which can create a grainy texture.
- Pan Preparation Perfection 🧈Line your pan with parchment paper with slight overhang for easy removal, and lightly butter the exposed sides to ensure clean, perfect fudge cuts.
- Condensed Milk Magic 🥛Use room temperature sweetened condensed milk for smoother incorporation and faster melting when combining with chocolate and butter.
- Flavor Boost Hack 🧂Add a pinch of flaky sea salt on top of the fudge just before it sets to create a sophisticated sweet-salty contrast that elevates the entire dessert.
