Tips & Tricks (5)
- Reserve Pasta Water for Sauce 💧Save 1 cup of starchy pasta cooking water before draining to thin the marinara sauce and help it cling to the tortellini, creating a silkier texture.
- Cheese Layering Strategy 🧀Layer half the mozzarella on the bottom, then tortellini and sauce, then top with remaining mozzarella mixed with Parmesan to ensure every bite has melted cheese on top and bottom.
- Undercook the Pasta Slightly 🍝Cook tortellini 1-2 minutes under the package time since it will continue cooking in the oven, preventing mushy, overcooked pasta in the final dish.
- Quality Marinara Makes a Difference 🍅Taste your sauce and season it with salt, pepper, and dried Italian herbs before baking; a well-seasoned base sauce elevates the entire dish dramatically.
- Tent with Foil, Then Uncover 🫓Bake covered with foil for 15 minutes to prevent drying, then uncover for the final 10-15 minutes to achieve golden, bubbly cheese on top with a slight crust.
