Ingredients

  • 3 pounds - apples
  • ½ cup - granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp - fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp - cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp - ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup - unsalted butter
  • 1 cup - rolled oats
  • 1 cup - all purpose flour
  • ⅓ cup - brown sugar
  • 1 tsp - cinnamon
  • a pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 13 x 9" baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. Peel the apples with a vegetable peeler.
  3. Stand the apple up on a cutting board and cut each side around the core.
  4. Place each piece of apple cut side down and chop into 1" chunks.
  5. Place the apples, granulated sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch and 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon in a large bowl and stir until combined.
  6. Pour the apple mixture into prepared baking dish and spread into an even layer.
  7. Melt the butter in a medium bowl in the microwave for 40-60 seconds.
  8. Add the oats, flour, brown sugar, remaining 1 teaspoon cinnamon and salt and stir well until combined.
  9. Sprinkle the crumble evenly over the apple mixture.
  10. Bake for 50-60 minutes until bubbly and golden brown, and the apples are at the desired level of tenderness. Cover loosely with foil if the crisp is browning too quickly. Cool on a wire rack for a minimum of 15 minutes and serve warm. Enjoy!
