Instructions
1
|
Preheat the oven to 350℉. Line a 12-count muffin tin with parchment paper muffin liners.
2
|
Whisk together the melted butter and brown sugar, eggs, vanilla, buttermilk, and applesauce in a large mixing bowl.
3
|
In another bowl, whisk the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and spices. Fold in the chopped apples. Add to the wet ingredients and stir just until no streaks of flour remain.
4
|
Fill each muffin liner to the top with batter and sprinkle a little bit of raw sugar on top of each muffin. Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool in the muffin tin for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to finish cooling. Enjoy!

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Apple Preparation Magic 🍎Dice apples into small, uniform pieces and toss them in a little flour before adding to the batter to prevent sinking and ensure even distribution throughout the muffins.
- Moisture Master Technique 💧Use room temperature applesauce and buttermilk to create a more even blend and prevent overmixing, which can lead to tough muffins.
- Spice Layer Perfection 🌶️Toast your ground spices (cinnamon, cloves, and allspice) in a dry pan for 30 seconds before adding to the recipe to intensify their flavor and aromatic profile.
- Muffin Top Trick 👑Sprinkle a mixture of turbinado sugar and extra spices on top of the muffins just before baking to create a crispy, caramelized crown with added texture and flavor.
- Moisture Preservation Hack 🧊Store muffins in an airtight container with a slice of bread to maintain moisture and prevent them from drying out for up to 3 days.
