Instructions
1
|
Add crushed ice to a 16 ounce glass, enough to fill it about 2/3 of the way.
2
|
Fill the glass most of the way with carbonated water, leaving about an inch at the top (enough space for the flavored syrups or cream, if using).
3
|
Add your desired amount of flavored syrup. More syrup will make the drink sweeter, and less will keep it mildly flavored.
4
|
Add an optional splash of cream or half and half, if desired. This will turn the drink into an Italian cream soda, also called a “French soda.”
5
|
Mix the drink up a little to blend all of the flavors together.

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Syrup Quality Matters 🍯Use high-quality homemade or artisanal flavored syrups for a more authentic and sophisticated Italian soda experience, avoiding artificial flavors.
- Cream Layer Technique 🥛Pour cream slowly over the back of a spoon to create a beautiful layered effect, allowing the cream to float delicately on top of the carbonated water and syrup.
- Ice Cube Pro Tip ❄️Use crushed or pebble ice for the most authentic texture, as it melts more evenly and integrates better with the drink's components.
- Flavor Balancing Trick 🌈Start with a 1:1 ratio of syrup to carbonated water, then adjust to taste - some syrups are more concentrated than others.
- Garnish for Elevation 🍒Add a fresh herb sprig, fruit slice, or edible flower to transform your Italian soda from simple drink to Instagram-worthy beverage.
