Instructions

1
|
First, preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
2
|
Start by mixing the first five ingredients listed together either with a mixer that has a bread hook attachment or in a large bowl (make sure not to over mix the dough).
3
|
Once combined, divide the dough into two greased and floured bread pans.
4
|
Next let the dough rise in the pans until it reaches the top of the pan (about 30 minutes).
5
|
Then, place the bread in the oven. Bake the bread for 35 minutes on the center oven rack.
6
|
Then 10 minutes before the bread is done, brush the surface of the bread with melted butter.
7
|
Place the bread back in the oven and bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Keep a close eye on your toast bread so it doesn't get too dark.
8
|
After baking, let the bread cool in pans for about 5 minutes before placing it on a wire rack.
9
|
Finally, after allowing the bread to cool completely, cut and serve.

Tips & Tricks (5)

  • Activate Yeast Properly 🧪
Dissolve rapid rise yeast in warm water (105-110°F) for 5 minutes before mixing to ensure optimal fermentation and a lighter, airier crumb structure in your finished bread.
  • Cornmeal Base for Texture 🌽
Dust your baking surface and bread bottom with cornmeal before baking to create the signature English muffin nooks and crannies while preventing sticking.
  • Steam for Crust Development 💨
Place a pan of hot water on the lower oven rack while baking to create steam, which develops a golden, slightly crispy exterior perfect for toasting.
  • Room Temperature Proofing 🌡️
Allow dough to rise in a warm, draft-free environment (75-80°F) for even fermentation; avoid direct sunlight which can cause uneven rising and toughness.
  • Cool Completely Before Slicing ❄️
Let the bread cool for at least 30 minutes on a wire rack before slicing to set the crumb structure, preventing gumminess and ensuring clean, even slices for toasting.
