Finger Steaks are like chicken fingers, but steak. They’re crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. If you haven’t heard of them, you have to give them a try. My family is hooked on these tender, beef strips that are perfect for dipping. I love this recipe because it’s a quick and inexpensive meal that’s also super delicious.

Tips & Tricks (5)

  • Pound for Uniform Thickness 🔨
Pound cube steak evenly to ¼-inch thickness before cutting into strips to ensure uniform cooking and maximum tenderness throughout each finger steak.
  • Double Coating for Extra Crispness ✨
Dip breaded strips back into the egg wash, then coat again with your crushed corn flakes and French fried onion mixture for an irresistibly crunchy, golden exterior.
  • Oil Temperature is Critical 🌡️
Maintain oil at 350°F for optimal frying—too hot and the coating burns before the meat cooks, too cool and you'll get greasy results instead of crispy perfection.
  • Season Your Breading Mixture 🧂
Mix burger seasoning directly into your corn flakes and French fried onions before breading rather than seasoning the meat alone—this distributes flavor throughout the entire crispy coating.
  • Let Breaded Strips Rest Before Frying ❄️
Refrigerate breaded strips for 15-20 minutes before frying to help the coating adhere properly and create a thicker, crunchier crust that won't fall off during cooking.
