Ingredients

  • 1 ⅓ cups - all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp - salt
  • ¼ tsp - baking powder
  • ¼ tsp - dry yeast
  • ¼ cup - water
  • 2 tablespoons - plain yogurt
  • 1 tbsp - oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine flour, salt, baking powder, and dry yeast. Add water, yogurt, and oil. Mix and knead into a soft, slightly sticky dough (about 5–8 minutes by hand).
  2. Cover the dough and let it rest in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has visibly risen.
  3. Divide the dough into 4 pieces. Form little balls and let them rest for 10 minutes. Roll or stretch each piece into an oval or teardrop shape, about 0.5 cm thick.
  4. Heat a pan (non-stick or cast iron) over high heat – no oil needed. Cook each naan for about 1–2 minutes per side, until bubbles form and brown spots appear.
  5. Brush with melted butter or garlic oil while still warm.
