Instructions
1
|
Start with 2 handfuls of the greens in the blender with a few tablespoons of liquid. Blend until just liquified. If need be, you can add in more liquid, one tablespoon at a time.
2
|
Blend just until it's liquified. It's okay if there are still some green chunks in it.
3
|
Add in 2 more handfuls of the greens and blend until liquified. Add liquid if needed, one tablespoon at a time.
4
|
Repeat until all of your greens are liquified and let the blender run until there are no green chunks left.
5
|
Pour the liquid greens into molds and place in a flat surface in the freezer.
6
|
Freeze for at least 6 hours.
7
|
Remove green cubes from the mold and place in a freezer back. Store in the freezer until needed.
8
|
ENJOY lots of green smoothies while not wasting any food :)
Notes

Please note that this "recipe" is a rough estimate, obviously if you have more or less greens that need freezing, you can adjust it to fit your needs.
2
|
For my average sized ice mold, I need about 7 cubes of greens per green smoothie recipe (that makes 2 servings).

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Portion into Ice Cube Trays 🧊Freeze greens in ice cube trays with a small amount of liquid for perfectly portioned smoothie cubes that blend seamlessly and prevent wastage.
- Blanch Before Freezing 🫖Briefly blanch greens in boiling water for 2-3 minutes, then shock in ice water before freezing to preserve color, nutrients, and prevent oxidation during storage.
- Layer with Liquid Strategically 💧Add just enough liquid (water, coconut milk, or juice) to coat the greens when freezing, which prevents ice crystals and ensures smooth blending without diluting your smoothie.
- Store in Vacuum-Sealed Bags ✨Use a vacuum sealer to remove air from freezer bags, which prevents freezer burn and extends the shelf life of your frozen greens up to 8 months.
- Label with Freeze Dates 📅Mark each container with the freezing date and green variety to track freshness and ensure you use older portions first for optimal flavor and nutritional quality.
