1
First, line a 9 inch by 9 inch square pan with parchment paper.

In a large skillet or pot, add the butter over low medium heat.
3
Once the butter has melted, add in the mini marshmallows. Consistently stir until the marshmallows have melted.
4
Then, turn off the heat. Add in the vanilla extract and rice cereal. Stir until all of the cereal is completely coated in the marshmallow mixture.
5
Use a spatula to transfer into the prepared pan. Gently pat down into one even layer.

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Butter Temperature Control 🧈Melt butter over medium heat and let it cool for 1-2 minutes before adding marshmallows to prevent them from deflating or burning, ensuring a light and fluffy texture.
- Marshmallow Folding Technique 🍡Use a spatula to gently fold the cereal into the marshmallow mixture with a slow, deliberate motion rather than stirring vigorously to keep the treats airy and prevent the marshmallows from breaking down.
- Buttered Pan Preparation 🥄Generously butter your baking pan and your spatula before pressing the mixture to prevent sticking and create clean, professional-looking cuts without frustrating cleanup.
- Cooling Time Optimization ⏰Allow treats to cool at room temperature for at least 30 minutes before cutting; cutting too early results in sticky, shapeless pieces, while proper cooling creates a perfect chewy-crunchy texture.
- Vanilla Extract Enhancement 🌾Use pure vanilla extract rather than imitation and add it directly to the melted butter before the marshmallows for deeper flavor penetration and a more sophisticated, homemade taste profile.
