Tips & Tricks (5)
- Press Your Tofu Thoroughly 🤲Use a tofu press or wrap the block in clean kitchen towels and place heavy objects on top for at least 30 minutes to remove excess moisture, ensuring maximum crispiness and better sauce absorption.
- Double-Coat for Extra Crunch 🥡After cubing your pressed tofu, toss it in cornstarch, let it sit for 5 minutes, then toss again before cooking to create an ultra-crispy, golden exterior that stays crunchy even after tossing with sauce.
- Bloom Your Garlic in Oil 🧄Heat minced garlic in oil for 30-45 seconds before adding soy sauce to release its aromatic compounds and create a more complex, mellow garlic flavor rather than sharp or bitter notes.
- Toast Sesame Seeds Beforehand ✨Lightly toast the sesame seeds in a dry skillet for 1-2 minutes before serving to intensify their nutty flavor and create a more professional, restaurant-quality finish.
- Add Green Onions in Two Stages 🌱Reserve half your sliced green onions for cooking with the sauce and half for garnishing at the end; this provides deep onion flavor throughout while keeping fresh, bright notes on top.
