Tips & Tricks (5)
- Gel Coloring Distribution 🎨Mix green gel food coloring into the olive oil before combining with other ingredients to ensure even color distribution throughout the dough without streaking or patchy spots.
- Chill Before Baking ❄️Refrigerate the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking to prevent excessive spreading and maintain chewy texture, resulting in thicker, softer cookies with better shape definition.
- Powdered Sugar Coating Technique ✨Roll warm cookies in powdered sugar immediately after removing from the oven while they're still soft, allowing the sugar to adhere better and create that signature crackled, festive appearance.
- Cake Mix Quality Matters 🎂Use premium or name-brand white cake mix rather than generic versions, as they contain better emulsifiers and texture agents that create softer, chewier cookies with superior moisture retention.
- Olive Oil Selection 🫒Use light or pure olive oil rather than extra virgin to avoid overpowering the cookie's flavor, and ensure it's at room temperature when mixing for proper emulsification with eggs and dry ingredients.
