Tips & Tricks (5)
- Add Decorations After Baking 👀Place eyeball candies and delicate sprinkles on cookies immediately after removing from the oven while the surface is still slightly sticky, ensuring they adhere properly without melting into the batter.
- Chill Dough Before Scooping 🧊Refrigerate the cake mix dough for 30 minutes before baking to prevent excessive spreading and maintain defined cookie shapes that showcase your Halloween decorations beautifully.
- Reserve Jimmies for Topping 🎃Mix only half the Halloween jimmies into the batter and sprinkle the remaining directly onto unbaked cookie dough to preserve vibrant colors and prevent dye from bleeding into the cake.
- Use Oil for Optimal Moisture 🫒Ensure you measure vegetable oil accurately—too little creates dry cookies while proper amounts keep the cake mix cookies tender and chewy throughout storage and serving.
- Orange Coloring in Batter Only 🧡Mix orange gel food coloring directly into the wet ingredients before combining with cake mix to achieve even color distribution without over-mixing, which can toughen the cookie texture.
