4 Ingredients

From the Cook
1/2
Honey Glazed Baked Ham
Instructions
1
|
Set a rack to the lowest position in the oven. Preheat oven to 325°F.
2
|
Line a roasting pan with aluminum foil, and position a roasting rack in the pan. Place ham on the middle of roasting rack. Pat the ham dry with paper towels to help the glaze adhere better.
3
|
Place the honey in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high until liquefied, 20-25 seconds. Add the melted butter and cayenne to the bowl. Whisk vigorously until smooth and combined.
4
|
Brush the ham with a thick layer of the honey butter.
5
|
Bake ham on lowest rack of oven until it has reached an internal temperature of about 145°F and the glaze is caramelized, 2-2 1/2 hours, or about 15 minutes per pound of ham. Every 30-45 minutes, open oven door and baste ham with additional honey butter.
6
|
Check to see that ham is done. Remove from oven or add time as needed.
7
|
Allow ham to cool on roasting rack for 15 minutes. Transfer to cutting board, then carve and serve. Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Glaze Layering Technique 🍯Apply multiple thin layers of honey glaze during the last 30 minutes of baking to create a rich, caramelized exterior without burning.
- Cayenne Heat Calibration 🌶️Adjust cayenne pepper quantity based on your spice tolerance, starting with 1/4 teaspoon and gradually increasing for balanced heat.
- Ham Surface Prep 🔪Score the ham's surface in a diamond pattern before glazing to help the honey penetrate deeper and create more surface area for caramelization.
- Butter Emulsification Trick 🧈Melt butter and honey together slowly over low heat to create a smooth, consistent glaze that will coat the ham evenly.
- Moisture Preservation Hack 💧Cover the ham with aluminum foil for the first two-thirds of cooking to prevent drying out, then uncover to allow glazing and browning.
