Instructions
1
|
Place the trivet with the handles in an 8 quart instant pot.
2
|
Pour the water into the instant pot.
3
|
Place the ham in the middle of the foil and fold up the sides of the foil to make a bowl for the ham.
4
|
Rub the brown sugar over the ham and pineapple juice over the top making sure that all the ingredients stay in the foil.
5
|
Then place the foil wrapped ham in the instant pot on top of the trivet.
6
|
Seal the instant pot and cook on high pressure for 2 minutes per pound of ham, and add 10 minutes because of the foil.
7
|
Then allow the pressure to release naturally for at least 10 minutes and then do a quick release after this time.

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Score the Ham Surface 🔪Score the ham's exterior in a crosshatch pattern before cooking to allow the brown sugar glaze to penetrate deeper and caramelize beautifully for enhanced flavor and texture.
- Use Pineapple Juice Strategically 🍍Reserve the pineapple juice separately and add it gradually during cooking to control sweetness and acidity balance, while using the rings as garnish at the end to prevent them from becoming mushy.
- Layer Brown Sugar for Depth 🟤Create a paste by mixing brown sugar with a small amount of Dijon mustard and ham drippings, then apply it mid-cooking to build multiple caramelized layers rather than adding it all at once.
- Release Pressure Naturally 💨Allow the Instant Pot to naturally release pressure for 10-15 minutes instead of quick-releasing to keep the ham moist and prevent the meat from toughening from sudden temperature changes.
- Glaze Under the Broiler 🔥After Instant Pot cooking, finish the ham under the broiler for 2-3 minutes with extra brown sugar and pineapple rings to create a caramelized, sticky exterior that rivals traditional baked ham.
