Instructions
1
|
Place the trivet with the handles in an 8 quart instant pot.
2
|
Pour the water into the instant pot.
3
|
Place the ham in the middle of the foil and fold up the sides of the foil to make a bowl for the ham.
4
|
Rub the brown sugar over the ham and pineapple juice over the top making sure that all the ingredients stay in the foil.
5
|
Then place the foil wrapped ham in the instant pot on top of the trivet.
6
|
Seal the instant pot and cook on high pressure for 2 minutes per pound of ham, and add 10 minutes because of the foil.
7
|
Then allow the pressure to release naturally for at least 10 minutes and then do a quick release after this time.

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Score the Ham Surface 🔪Cut shallow diagonal lines across the ham's exterior in a crosshatch pattern before cooking to allow the brown sugar glaze to penetrate deeply and caramelize evenly for maximum flavor development.
- Use Pineapple Juice as Liquid 💧Measure your cooking liquid using the pineapple juice from the can first, then add water as needed—this adds natural sweetness and acidity that enhances the overall glaze without extra sugar.
- Quick Release for Glazing 💨After the pressure cook cycle, use quick release and immediately switch to sauté mode to reduce and concentrate the liquid into a thick, glossy glaze that clings beautifully to the ham.
- Arrange Pineapple Rings Strategically 🍍Add pineapple rings during the last 5 minutes of cooking to prevent them from becoming mushy while still allowing them to warm through and absorb the glaze for optimal texture and presentation.
- Brown Sugar Caramelization Timing ⏱️Mix your brown sugar with a splash of pineapple juice into a paste before cooking rather than sprinkling it dry, ensuring even distribution and preventing clumping for a silky, caramelized finish.
