Tips & Tricks (5)
- Pre-Crisp Your Bacon 🥓Cook bacon until just under your desired crispness before adding to tater tots, as it will continue crisping in the oven and won't become soggy from steam.
- Pat Tots Dry First 💧Remove tater tots from the freezer and pat them dry with paper towels before baking to ensure maximum crispiness and prevent moisture from creating soggy bottoms.
- Strategic Topping Order 🎯Add sour cream and tomatoes after the tots finish baking to prevent them from becoming watery; layer bacon and cheese during the last 2-3 minutes of baking for perfect melting.
- Elevate on a Wire Rack 📍Bake tater tots on a wire rack set over a baking sheet to allow hot air to circulate underneath, creating crispy exteriors on all sides rather than soggy bottoms.
- Fresh Green Onion Finish 🌱Slice green onions and add them just before serving to maintain their fresh, sharp flavor and bright color rather than wilting them with residual heat.
