Cupcake Ingredients:
Frosting Ingredients:
Instructions
1
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
2
To make the roses out of bacon, brush one side of every bacon slice with butter, sprinkle on brown sugar, roll it up and place the bacon bloom side up in a muffin tin. Put in the oven and bake until the bacon is crispy. Drain off excess grease by setting on a paper towel.
3
To make the cupcakes, prepare according to the box directions for cupcakes and mix in 2 tablespoons of maple syrup.
4
Pour the batter into a lined muffin tin, about 3/4 full.
5
Put into the oven and bake for 22-25 minutes. Remove and let the cupcakes cool.
6
To make the frosting, cream together the butter and 1/3 cup of the powdered sugar at a time. Add in the maple syrup.
7
Once the cupcakes are cooled, add the frosting and then put the bacon rose right on top.
8
You can drizzle the tops with melted chocolate as well.

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Render Bacon Perfectly 🥓Cook bacon low and slow in a 375°F oven for 15-20 minutes to achieve even crispiness and render fat evenly, then crumble while still slightly warm for optimal texture in your frosting.
- Infuse Maple Depth 🍁Reserve 2 tablespoons of bacon grease to mix with your maple syrup before adding to frosting—this amplifies the savory-sweet complexity and creates a luxurious mouthfeel.
- Balance Salt in Frosting 🧂Add a pinch of fleur de sel to your cream cheese or buttercream frosting to enhance the maple flavor and complement the bacon without making it taste salty.
- Toast Brown Sugar First 🔥Lightly toast your brown sugar in a dry skillet for 2-3 minutes before mixing into the batter to deepen its molasses notes and create richer fall flavor complexity.
- Prevent Bacon Oil Separation 💧Whisk maple syrup and bacon fat together at room temperature while incorporating powdered sugar gradually to ensure a stable, creamy frosting that won't break or weep.
