Instructions

1
|
Melt 1 tablespoon of the butter in one of the mugs for 20 seconds or until melted. Add the graham crackers and stir to combine. Transfer half of the graham cracker crumbs into the second mug and press down into the bottoms of each mug.
2
|
Melt remaining 3 tablespoons butter in a bowl in a microwave for 20-30 seconds or until melted. Add milk and egg and whisk to combine.
3
|
Add the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt into the bowl and whisk until smooth.
4
|
Divide 1/4 of the batter into each mug, top with 8 mini marshmallows or 1 large marshmallow, divide remaining batter between the mugs and finally top with additional 8 mini marshmallows or 1 large marshmallow.
5
|
Microwave the mugs for 1 minute to 1:15 watching towards the end to make sure they don’t overflow.
6
|
Carefully remove your mug from the microwave (it'll be hot!), and let it cool slightly. Grab a spoon and dive into pure s'mores bliss.

Tips & Tricks (5)

  • Microwave Power Sweet Spot 🎯
Use 50% power instead of full power to prevent the cake from overflowing and ensure even cooking—microwave strength varies, so start with 60-70 seconds and adjust as needed.
  • Strategic Marshmallow Placement 🍫
Place one large marshmallow at the bottom of the mug and reserve another for the top to create a molten center and caramelized surface—add the top marshmallow in the final 10 seconds of cooking.
  • Graham Cracker Crust Foundation 🍪
Crush graham crackers finely and mix them directly into the dry ingredients rather than layering on top, which prevents sogginess and distributes the toasted flavor throughout the cake.
  • Room Temperature Eggs for Even Texture 🥚
Let eggs sit at room temperature for 15 minutes before mixing to ensure smooth incorporation and a more tender, less dense crumb in your mug cake.
  • Mug Selection Matters 🛡️
Use ceramic mugs (never plastic) and fill only halfway to allow room for rise without overflow—ceramic also distributes heat more evenly than stoneware.
