Instructions

1
|
Place the oats in a food processor or blender and pulse until finely ground.
2
|
In a mixing bowl, stir together the peanut butter and honey.
3
|
Add the ground oats to the peanut butter mixture and continue to stir until thoroughly combined.
4
|
Using 2 tablespoon of the mixture at a time (I like to use a mini ice cream scooper), roll into balls.
5
|
Cut small pretzels in half to use for the reindeer antlers.
6
|
Decorate with candy eyes, red candies for the nose and pretzel antlers. Place the eyes close together for a super cute face.

Tips & Tricks (5)

  • Chill for Perfect Handling 🧊
Refrigerate your peanut butter-honey mixture for 30-45 minutes before shaping to prevent sticking and ensure your bites hold their form beautifully without falling apart.
  • Toast Your Oats First 🌾
Lightly toast the old-fashioned oats in a dry skillet for 2-3 minutes before mixing to enhance their nutty flavor and add subtle depth to your reindeer bites.
  • Use Pretzel Pieces Strategically 🥨
Break pretzels into small, varied-sized pieces and add them at the end of mixing to maintain their crunch and prevent them from becoming soggy in the peanut butter mixture.
  • Melt Chocolate Over Low Heat 🍫
Use a double boiler or microwave in 15-second intervals to gently melt red chocolate candy pieces, preventing seizing and ensuring a smooth, glossy coating for the reindeer nose.
  • Create a Decorating Assembly Line 🎨
Set up separate stations for shaping, dipping noses, and adding pretzel antlers to streamline the decorating process and make the activity more enjoyable for kids.
