Orange Chicken is a simple weeknight dinner that’s ready in under 30 minutes. Not to mention, bursting with flavor and so easy to make! There’s nothing quite like Chinese takeout, but this homemade version of Orange Chicken might give it a run for its money. It’s easy, healthy and everyone will love you for making it. With just the right amount of colorful vegetables and a tangy sweet sauce my kids were lapping this Orange Chicken up!

Tips & Tricks (5)

  • Pound Your Chicken Evenly 🔨
Pound chicken breasts to uniform ½-inch thickness to ensure they cook evenly in under 30 minutes and absorb the orange sauce better.
  • Zest Before Juicing 🍊
Always zest your orange before juicing it, then add the zest to your sauce for an intensified citrus flavor that store-bought versions can't match.
  • Bloom Your Garlic and Ginger 🧄
Toast minced garlic and ginger in oil for 30 seconds before adding other ingredients to unlock their essential oils and deepen the savory depth of your sauce.
  • Sauce Reduction is Key ✨
Simmer the orange sauce for 2-3 minutes after combining ingredients to concentrate flavors and achieve a glossy, clingy consistency that coats the chicken beautifully.
  • Vegetable Timing Strategy 🥦
Add snow peas and bell peppers in the final 2-3 minutes of cooking to maintain their crisp texture and vibrant color while preventing them from becoming soggy.
