Instructions

1
|
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spay a 13×9 pan with nonstick cooking spray and set aside.
2
|
Pour cake mix into a 13×9 pan and bake according to package directions.
3
|
In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, cornstarch and salt. Add in the milk and cream and stir to combine.
4
|
Heat the milk to just under a boil.
5
|
When small bubbles start appearing on the sides of the pan, it’s time to temper the eggs.
6
|
Take 1/2 cup of the milk and slowly whisk into the egg yolks. The eggs are now tempered and ready to add the pudding.
7
|
Add the eggs to the pudding and cook for 3 minutes, then remove from the heat. Stir in the vanilla and the butter. Set pudding aside to cool a little.
8
|
With the handle of a wooden spoon, poke holes in the cake.
9
|
Pour the pudding over the top of the cake, guiding the pudding into the holes. Place the cake in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
10
|
Take 5 Oreos and crush the chocolate cookies into crumbs and stir them into the 8 ounces of cool whip.
11
|
Top the cake with the cool whip and return it to the refrigerator for another 30 minutes.
12
|
Just before serving, crush the remaining 15 Oreo cookies and sprinkle on top of the cake. Garnish with a little chocolate syrup and serve immediately.

  • Crushing Oreos Like a Pro 🍪
Place Oreo cookies in a sealed plastic bag and use a rolling pin to create uniform, fine crumbs that will distribute evenly throughout the cake.
  • Poke Technique Mastery 🕳️
Use the handle of a wooden spoon to create consistent, evenly spaced holes in the cake, ensuring each slice gets maximum filling and flavor absorption.
  • Chill for Perfect Texture 🧊
Refrigerate the cake for at least 2-3 hours before serving to allow the filling to set completely and enhance the overall flavor melding.
  • Whipped Cream Stability Trick 🥛
Add a tablespoon of instant vanilla pudding mix to your whipped cream to help it maintain its structure and prevent weeping.
  • Crumb Coating Technique 🍰
Crush some additional Oreos extra fine and sprinkle them between cake layers for an intense cookie flavor and added textural contrast.
