Tips & Tricks (5)
- Soak for Crispiness 💧Soak cut potatoes in cold water for 30 minutes before patting dry—this removes excess starch and creates irresistibly crispy edges.
- Oil Distribution is Key 🛢️Toss potatoes in oil using your hands or a large bowl to ensure every piece is evenly coated, preventing some from sticking or browning unevenly.
- Preheat Your Baking Sheet 🔥Heat your oiled baking sheet in the oven for 5 minutes before adding potatoes—the hot surface creates an immediate golden crust and superior crispiness.
- Space Matters for Steam Escape 🌬️Arrange fries in a single layer without crowding; overcrowding traps steam and results in soft fries instead of crispy ones.
- Season Immediately After Baking 🧂Salt your fries while they're still hot from the oven so the kosher salt adheres perfectly and seasons every bite thoroughly.
