Tips & Tricks (5)
- Soak and Dry for Maximum Crispiness 💧Soak cut potatoes in cold water for 30 minutes to remove excess starch, then pat completely dry before oiling—this creates the crispiest exterior without greasiness.
- Use High Heat and Preheat Your Pan 🔥Preheat your baking sheet in a 425°F oven for 5 minutes before adding fries; this ensures immediate crisping and prevents soggy bottoms.
- Cut Uniform Thickness for Even Cooking ✂️Cut all fries to consistent thickness (¼-inch is ideal) so they cook evenly—uneven pieces will result in some burnt and some undercooked fries.
- Toss Halfway Through Cooking 🔄Flip and shake the fries halfway through baking to ensure all sides get equal exposure to heat for uniform golden-brown coloring.
- Season Immediately While Hot 🧂Season with kosher salt the moment fries come out of the oven when they're still steaming—the salt will adhere better and flavor will penetrate the surface.
