Tips & Tricks (5)
- Dry Your Brussels Sprouts Thoroughly 💧Pat Brussels sprouts completely dry with paper towels before tossing with oil—moisture prevents caramelization and creates steam instead of the desired golden-brown crust.
- Marinate for Maximum Flavor 🍯Prepare the honey-balsamic-mustard marinade 30 minutes ahead and toss the Brussels sprouts in it before roasting to allow the flavors to penetrate the vegetable's outer leaves.
- Cut Uniformly for Even Cooking 🔪Halve your Brussels sprouts to similar sizes and arrange cut-side down on the pan—this ensures even browning and prevents some from burning while others remain undercooked.
- Toast Breadcrumbs Separately 🥖Lightly toast breadcrumbs in a separate pan with a touch of oil before adding them at the end—this prevents sogginess and guarantees a crispy, golden texture that contrasts beautifully with tender sprouts.
- Don't Crowd the Pan 📦Use a single layer of Brussels sprouts on your roasting pan and resist the urge to stir frequently; give them 20-25 minutes undisturbed to develop deep caramelization and crispy exteriors.
