Ingredients
Instructions
- Step 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Place the macadamia nuts in a food processor and process until they are almost a paste. Transfer the nuts to a bowl, then add the butter cookies to the food processor and process until they are so fine that they resemble coarse flour.
- Step 2
Mix nuts, cookie crumbs, sugar, and salt in a bowl. Add melted butter and mix everything with a fork until small clumps form.
- Step 3
Place the cookie crumbs into the pan and press them evenly onto the bottom and up the sides. A measuring cup with a flat bottom works best for this, ensuring a smooth surface. The top edge of the base should be about 0.5 centimeters thick and flush with the rim of the pan.
- Step 4
Place the base in the oven at 180°C (350°F) using conventional oven settings (top and bottom heat) for 8 to 10 minutes, until the surface and edges are lightly golden brown. Remove the pan from the oven and let it cool for approximately 20 minutes.
