Tips & Tricks (5)
- Room Temperature Ingredients 🌡️Bring peanut butter, butter, and eggs to room temperature before mixing to ensure smooth, even incorporation and prevent lumpy batter that affects texture.
- Strategic Chocolate Placement 🍫Press Hershey's Kisses and chocolate chips into the batter immediately after spreading in the pan, then refrigerate for 15 minutes before baking so they set properly without sinking.
- Don't Overmix the Dough 🥄Mix just until combined after adding flour to avoid developing excess gluten, which creates tough, dense bars instead of the desired soft and chewy texture.
- Underbake for Chewiness ⏱️Remove bars when the edges are set but the center still jiggles slightly when shaken—they'll continue cooking from residual heat and achieve that perfect chewy consistency.
- Cool Completely Before Cutting 🔪Let bars cool in the pan for at least 2 hours at room temperature before cutting to prevent crumbling and ensure clean, professional-looking portions with intact chocolate pieces.
