To make the Crust
1
|
Preheat the oven to 350℉. Line a 9x9-inch baking pan with aluminum foil, leaving the edges to hang over the sides of the pan, and spray with nonstick cooking spray.
2
|
In a medium bowl using an electric handheld mixer on low speed, beat ½ cup softened butter and flour. Increase the speed to high and beat until the mixture forms a crumbly texture. Pour into the prepared pan and press into an even crust. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Prepare the filling while the crust is baking.
To make the Filling
1
|
Whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and egg. Fold in the chopped pecans. Once the crust is done, pull it out of the oven, pour the filling over top and spread around evenly before returning to the oven to bake for 18-20 minutes.
2
|
Let the pan of bars cool on a wire rack for 30 minutes before lifting out using the overhanging foil. For best results, let cool fully before slicing to serve. Enjoy!

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Toasting Pecans Perfection 🥜Always toast pecans before adding them to the recipe to intensify their flavor and create a deeper, nuttier profile. Spread pecans on a baking sheet and toast at 350°F for 8-10 minutes, stirring once halfway through.
- Butter Temperature Matters 🧈Use room temperature butter for the crust to ensure even mixing and a more tender, flaky base. Let butter sit out for 30-45 minutes before preparing the recipe.
- Perfect Crust Technique 📏When pressing the crust into the pan, use the bottom of a measuring cup to create an even, compact layer that will hold together beautifully when cut.
- Prevent Soggy Bottom 🥧Line your baking pan with parchment paper with overhang, which makes removing and cutting the bars easier and helps prevent a soggy crust.
- Cooling is Crucial 🕰️Allow the pecan pie bars to cool completely at room temperature for at least 2-3 hours before cutting to ensure clean, neat slices and proper setting of the filling.
