Raising Cane’s Style Texas Toast
Imagine a cloud, but make it bread. Soft and fluffy inside, golden and slightly crisp on the outside, with a hint of sweetness and a glossy, buttery finish. Whether you tear it apart or slice and toast it, it melts in your mouth every single time.

Ingredients
- 400–420 grams - all-purpose flour
- 155 milliliters - warm milk
- 5 grams - dry yeast
- 30 grams - sugar
- 1 tsp - salt
- 1 - egg
- 60 grams - butter
- 1 - egg yolk
- sesame seeds
- a little melted butter
Instructions
- Add all ingredients (except the egg yolk and sesame seeds) to a large bowl.
- Make a little well in the center, pour in the warm milk, and dissolve the yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Now knead everything into a smooth, elastic dough – either by hand or using a mixer. It should feel soft but not sticky.
- Cut the dough into 6 equal pieces, roll each into a ball, and let them rest under a towel for 10 minutes.
- Flatten each ball slightly, then roll it up tightly like a little log. Think mini bread rolls – compact but cute.
- Place all 6 rolls side by side in a greased baking dish so they’re snuggled up next to each other.
- Cover and let rise in a warm spot for 40–50 minutes, until puffed and doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 170°C (340°F).
- Brush the tops with beaten egg yolk and sprinkle with sesame seeds. This is what gives them that beautiful shine and crunch!
- Bake for 30–40 minutes, or until golden on top and baked through. Tip: Stick a skewer in to check – if it comes out clean, they’re done!
- Once out of the oven, brush the tops with melted butter while still warm.
