Instructions
1
Add the dressing ingredients to a jar or a container with a lid.
2
Shake the dressing until it’s fully emulsified (the oil and vinegar are combined and not separating).
3
Cook the bacon according to package directions. For regular pork bacon that is not thin cut, it’ll take about 8 to 12 minutes (turn bacon over occasionally). Set aside to cool slightly before chopping into small pieces.
4
Add the lettuce to a platter or salad bowl.
5
Top the lettuce with the apple slices.
6
Sprinkle on the chopped bacon and pecans.
7
Pour on the desired amount of dressing and gently toss the salad to combine.

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Prep Apples Last-Minute to Prevent Browning 🍎Cut apples just before serving and toss immediately with a splash of apple cider vinegar to prevent oxidation and maintain their crisp texture and bright appearance.
- Render Bacon Slowly for Maximum Crunch 🥓Cook bacon over medium heat rather than high heat to achieve an even, shatteringly crisp texture throughout, then crumble it coarsely for better distribution across the salad.
- Toast Pecans for Deeper Flavor 🌰Lightly toast your pecans in a dry skillet for 2-3 minutes before adding them to release their oils and intensify their earthy, sweet notes that complement the apple and maple flavors.
- Balance Your Vinaigrette Emulsion 🫒Whisk the maple syrup and mustard together first before slowly drizzling in olive oil to create a stable, creamy emulsion that coats the lettuce evenly rather than pooling at the bottom.
- Keep Lettuce Dry and Dress Just Before Service 🥬Pat-dry your lettuce thoroughly after washing and dress the salad only moments before eating to prevent sogginess and maintain the contrast between crisp greens and tender apples.
