Instructions
1

Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Grease a 9X13-inch baking pan with non-stick spray.
2
|
In a large bowl using a handheld electric mixer, cream together butter and white sugar. Add the eggs, vanilla, and sour cream and continue beating.
3
|
In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and allspice. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix on low speed just until combined. Fold in the apples.
4
|
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth out the top. Bake for 40-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove cake from the oven but leave the oven on at 350ºF.

|
In a small pot stir together the butter, brown sugar, whipping cream, and cinnamon. Bring to a boil over medium heat and let boil for 2-3 minutes whisking constantly.
6
|
Pour caramel sauce over the hot cake and place the cake back in the oven for 3-5 minutes or until the sauce starts to bubble.
7
|
Let the cake cool for 10-15 minutes or until ready to serve. Best served while still warm with ice cream. Enjoy!

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Apple Selection Magic 🍎Choose firm, tart apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp that hold their shape during baking and provide a perfect balance to the sweet caramel.
- Spice Layering Technique 🌿Toast your ground cinnamon and allspice briefly in a dry pan before adding to the batter to intensify their aromatic oils and deepen the cake's flavor profile.
- Moisture-Locking Pro Tip 💧Fold in sour cream at the very end of mixing to create an ultra-tender crumb and prevent over-mixing, which can lead to a tough cake texture.
- Caramel Perfection Trick 🍯When making the caramel topping, watch for a deep amber color and remove from heat immediately to prevent burning, which can create a bitter taste.
- Apple Preparation Secret 🔪Dice apples into uniform, small pieces and toss with a tablespoon of flour to prevent sinking to the bottom of the cake during baking.
