Tips & Tricks (5)
- Toast Your Poppy Seeds 🌱Lightly toast the poppy seeds in a dry skillet for 1-2 minutes before adding to your dressing to unlock deeper, nuttier flavors that elevate the entire salad.
- Macerate Strawberries Strategically 🍓Slice strawberries and toss with a pinch of sugar 15-20 minutes before serving to release their natural juices, creating a light glaze that adds extra sweetness and moisture to the greens.
- Emulsify Your Dressing Cold 🥄Whisk mayo and white wine vinegar together first, then slowly incorporate the remaining ingredients while keeping everything chilled to prevent the dressing from breaking and achieve a silky, cohesive texture.
- Slice Red Onion Paper-Thin 🧅Use a mandoline or sharp knife to create translucent onion slices, then briefly soak them in ice water for 5 minutes to mellow their sharpness while maintaining their crisp texture and visual appeal.
- Dress Just Before Serving ⏰Assemble your salad and add dressing only 5 minutes before serving to prevent the delicate romaine from wilting and keep the strawberries firm and fresh.
