Tips & Tricks (5)
- Dry Your Sweet Potatoes Thoroughly 💧Pat sliced sweet potatoes completely dry with paper towels before roasting to achieve crispy, golden edges and prevent sogginess when layering with avocado.
- Render Bacon Fat for Flavor 🥓Cook bacon slowly over medium heat to render maximum fat and crispy texture, then reserve 1-2 tablespoons of the fat to toss with warm sweet potatoes for enhanced depth.
- Prevent Avocado Oxidation 🥑Prepare your avocado spread with lime juice immediately before assembly, and press plastic wrap directly onto the surface to minimize browning and maintain vibrant green color.
- Bloom Spices in Oil First 🌶️Combine your smoked paprika and dried cilantro with olive oil and let sit for 2-3 minutes before tossing with sweet potatoes to fully activate and distribute the aromatic flavors.
- Assemble Just Before Serving ⏰Layer bacon and avocado on sweet potatoes only 15-20 minutes before serving to keep the potato bites crispy and prevent the avocado from becoming watery on warm potatoes.
