Tips & Tricks (5)
- Brew Strong Coffee for Soaking ☕Use double-strength instant coffee mixed with hot water and let it cool slightly before dipping bread—this ensures rich tiramisu flavor without over-soaking and making the toast soggy.
- Temper Egg Yolks Properly 🥚When combining egg yolks with condensed milk, add the mixture slowly while whisking to avoid curdling and achieve a silky, lump-free mascarpone cream filling.
- Toast Bread Selection is Key 🍞Use day-old brioche or challah cut ¾-inch thick—stale bread absorbs the coffee mixture evenly without falling apart, while fresh bread becomes mushy and won't hold the mascarpone layer.
- Butter the Pan, Not the Bread 🧈Dip bread quickly (1-2 seconds per side) in the egg mixture, then cook in a well-buttered skillet over medium heat to create a golden crust while keeping the interior creamy and tender.
- Dust Cocoa Powder Last 🎨Apply cocoa powder immediately before serving using a fine sieve for even coverage—if done too early, it absorbs moisture and loses its visual appeal and flavor intensity.
