Tips & Tricks (5)
- Press Your Tofu Properly 🧊Press tofu for at least 30 minutes before cubing to remove excess moisture, allowing it to absorb the olive oil and vinegar marinade more effectively for superior flavor.
- Marinate Before Skewering 🫒Toss pressed tofu cubes in olive oil, salt, and pepper for 15-20 minutes before assembling skewers to develop a richer taste that rivals traditional mozzarella in this dish.
- Tear Basil by Hand 🌿Always tear fresh basil leaves by hand rather than cutting with a knife to prevent bruising and oxidation, which preserves their delicate flavor and vibrant green color.
- Make Balsamic Glaze Fresh 🍯Simmer balsamic vinegar in a small pan for 5-7 minutes until it reduces and thickens into a glossy glaze—this concentrates the flavor and creates an elegant finishing touch that store-bought versions cannot match.
- Assemble Just Before Serving ⏱️Construct your skewers no more than 30 minutes before serving to keep the tofu firm and prevent the tomatoes from releasing excess juice that will make the presentation soggy.
