Tips & Tricks (5)
- Press Your Tofu First 🧊Wrap extra firm tofu in a clean kitchen towel and press under a heavy weight for 15-20 minutes to remove excess moisture, ensuring a better texture and allowing it to absorb flavors more effectively.
- Crumble While Cooking 👐Break the tofu into bite-sized pieces directly into your hot pan and let them develop golden edges before stirring, creating texture contrast rather than a uniform scramble.
- Toast Nutritional Yeast 🌟Sprinkle nutritional yeast into the dry pan for 30 seconds before adding oil to deepen its savory, nutty flavor and prevent clumping when mixed with wet ingredients.
- Layer Your Tater Tots Strategically 📐Arrange tater tots in a single layer on top of the tofu mixture rather than mixing them in, and increase oven temperature to 425°F for the last 10 minutes to ensure crispy, golden exteriors.
- Make-Ahead Storage Hack ⏰Prepare the casserole without tater tots, refrigerate overnight, then add tater tots and bake in the morning to maximize their crispness while saving 30 minutes of preparation time.
