Tips & Tricks (5)
- Brown the Turkey Properly 🔥Don't crowd the pan when browning ground turkey; work in batches over medium-high heat to develop a rich fond that adds depth to your sauce.
- Bloom the Tomato Paste 🍅Cook tomato paste in oil for 1-2 minutes before adding liquid to intensify its flavor and reduce any bitter taste in the final sauce.
- Soffritto as Your Foundation 🧅Take time to slowly cook diced onion, carrot, and garlic together for 5-7 minutes until soft and fragrant; this creates the flavorful base that makes authentic Bolognese superior.
- Simmer Low and Long ⏱️Let the sauce simmer on low heat for at least 20-30 minutes to allow flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken naturally, creating a more cohesive dish than rushing.
- Reserve Pasta Water for Silky Sauce 💧Save 1 cup of starchy pasta cooking water and stir a splash into your sauce just before serving to create a luxurious coating that clings beautifully to the fettuccine.
