Tips & Tricks (5)
- Toast Your Bread First 🍞Lightly toast the whole grain bread cubes before threading onto skewers to prevent them from becoming soggy when dipped in the yogurt sauce and to add a subtle crunch that complements the tender turkey.
- Pre-Cook Bacon to Crispy Perfection 🥓Cook bacon until just crispy and cut into kebab-sized pieces before assembly, then chill briefly so it holds its texture when threaded onto skewers rather than becoming limp.
- Make Your Sauce Ahead 🥣Prepare the yogurt-buttermilk dipping sauce at least 2 hours in advance and refrigerate—this allows the Dijon mustard and fresh herbs to fully infuse the sauce for maximum flavor development.
- Layer Ingredients Strategically 🎯Alternate heavier ingredients like bread and cheese with lighter ones like lettuce and tomatoes to distribute weight evenly on skewers and prevent them from tipping or rotating unevenly during serving.
- Chill Everything Before Assembly 🧊Keep your turkey, cheese, and vegetables refrigerated until the last moment before skewering—cold ingredients hold their shape better on the kebabs and provide a refreshing contrast to the creamy dipping sauce.
