My Vanilla Wafer Banana Pudding is an irresistible dessert that’s perfect for any get together. This creamy pudding with sweet banana slices and a little crunch from the cookies makes this treat a 20 minute family favorite. This is the best banana pudding I’ve ever had. I love this recipe because it’s so sweet and creamy.

    Tips & Tricks (5)

    • Slice Bananas Last-Minute 🍌
Add banana slices only 15 minutes before serving to prevent browning and maintain their fresh texture and bright appearance in the pudding.
    • Chill Pudding Mixture First ❄️
Refrigerate the vanilla pudding mixture for at least 30 minutes before layering to ensure it sets properly and creates distinct, creamy layers with the cookies.
    • Layer Strategically for Texture 🎂
Alternate pudding mixture, cookies, and bananas in thin layers rather than thick ones—this keeps cookies crispy longer and distributes flavors evenly throughout each spoonful.
    • Toast Vanilla Wafers Lightly 🥐
Lightly toast the butter cookies in a 300°F oven for 3-4 minutes before layering to intensify their flavor and prevent them from becoming soggy too quickly.
    • Balance Sweetness with Sour Cream 🥄
Add the full amount of sour cream to the pudding mixture—it cuts through the sweetness of condensed milk and caramel, creating sophisticated flavor depth rather than cloying dessert.
