Tips & Tricks (5)
- Slice Bananas Last-Minute 🍌Add banana slices only 15 minutes before serving to prevent browning and maintain their fresh texture and bright appearance in the pudding.
- Chill Pudding Mixture First ❄️Refrigerate the vanilla pudding mixture for at least 30 minutes before layering to ensure it sets properly and creates distinct, creamy layers with the cookies.
- Layer Strategically for Texture 🎂Alternate pudding mixture, cookies, and bananas in thin layers rather than thick ones—this keeps cookies crispy longer and distributes flavors evenly throughout each spoonful.
- Toast Vanilla Wafers Lightly 🥐Lightly toast the butter cookies in a 300°F oven for 3-4 minutes before layering to intensify their flavor and prevent them from becoming soggy too quickly.
- Balance Sweetness with Sour Cream 🥄Add the full amount of sour cream to the pudding mixture—it cuts through the sweetness of condensed milk and caramel, creating sophisticated flavor depth rather than cloying dessert.
