Tips & Tricks (5)
- Velveeta Melting Technique 🧀Cut Velveeta into small cubes and add it off-heat after making your roux, stirring constantly until completely smooth to prevent clumping and ensure a silky sauce.
- Pasta Water Magic 💧Reserve 1 cup of starchy pasta cooking water before draining—add it gradually to your cheese sauce to achieve the perfect creamy consistency without using excess milk.
- Panko Topping Upgrade 🥖Toss panko breadcrumbs with melted butter and a pinch of paprika or garlic powder before sprinkling on top, then broil for 2-3 minutes until golden for exceptional crunch and flavor.
- Seasoning Balance Strategy 🌶️Add dried mustard and seasoning blend to the roux before the Velveeta to bloom the spices and distribute flavors evenly throughout the entire dish.
- Skillet Heat Retention 🍳Keep your skillet on medium heat throughout assembly—the residual heat will help meld all ingredients together and prevent the sauce from cooling and thickening too quickly.
