Tips & Tricks (5)
- Stabilize Your Cone Base 🎩Secure the sugar cone upside-down on the cupcake by piping a thick ring of frosting around the cupcake's edge first, then gently press the cone into it for stability and to prevent tipping.
- Toast Cookie Brims Lightly 🍪Lightly toast your round, flat cookies for 2-3 minutes at 325°F to add crispness and prevent them from becoming soggy when placed on the frosted cupcakes.
- Temper Chocolate for Shine ✨Melt chocolate with a small amount of vegetable shortening (1 tablespoon per 2 ounces) to create a smooth, glossy coating that hardens properly for decorating and won't crack.
- Chill Before Final Assembly 🧊Refrigerate frosted cupcakes for 15-20 minutes before adding the cone and cookie brim so the frosting firms up and provides a stable foundation for stacking decorations.
- Plan Decoration Placement Strategically 🎨Apply heavier decorations like deco eyes and jellybeans first while frosting is tacky, then finish with lighter sprinkles to prevent them from sliding off or shifting during assembly.
