4-Ingredient BBQ Baked Salmon
Instructions
1
Preheat the oven to 400°F.
2
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
3
Place the salmon fillets skin side down on the baking sheet, and gently pat with a paper towel.
4
Place butter in a small microwave safe bowl. Microwave on high until melted, about 20 seconds.
5
Stir the lemon juice into the butter. Add the barbecue sauce and stir well to combine.
6
Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the barbecue glaze down the center of each salmon fillet. Use the back of the spoon to evenly coat the fillets with glaze.
7
Bake the salmon on middle rack of oven until the glaze is caramelized and the flesh flakes easily with a fork, 12-15 minutes.
8
Check to see that salmon is done. Remove from oven or add time as needed.
9
Squeeze fresh lemon juice over salmon and serve immediately. Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Pat Salmon Dry for Perfect Caramelization 🎯Use paper towels to thoroughly dry the salmon fillets before cooking to remove surface moisture, allowing the BBQ sauce to caramelize properly and create a flavorful crust instead of steaming.
- Butter the Pan, Not Just the Fish 🧈Coat the baking sheet with melted butter before placing salmon to create a protective base that prevents sticking and adds richness, ensuring the fish releases easily and develops a golden bottom.
- Tent with Foil to Control Moisture 🏕️Loosely cover the salmon with aluminum foil for the first half of baking, then remove it to allow the BBQ sauce to reduce and concentrate its flavors while keeping the fish moist inside.
- Layer Your Lemon Strategically 🍋Place fresh lemon slices under the salmon fillet and reserve lemon juice to drizzle on top midway through cooking, creating brightness both below and above the fish for balanced acidity throughout.
- Use a Meat Thermometer for Precision 🌡️Check the thickest part of the fillet for 130-135°F internal temperature to achieve perfectly moist salmon that continues cooking slightly as it rests, avoiding the dry, overcooked texture that kills this simple dish.
