Instructions
1
In a large bowl, combine the chopped apples, white sugar, flour, apple pie spice, salt, apple cider vinegar and lemon juice.
2
Stir to coat the apple completely in the mixture and let sit for 30 minutes.
3
Preheat oven according to puff pastry directions.
4
Line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Set aside.
5
Unroll and cut the puff pastry with a pizza cutter into 4” squares.
6
Place a tablespoon of the apple pie mixture in the centre of each square of puff pastry.
7
Fold the turnovers by bringing one corner of the puff pastry diagonally across and pressing to the diagonally opposite corner.
8
Press the edges of the folded puff pastry together to form a seal, and then use a fork to make a crimped edge. Make two small cuts in the top of the puff pastry using kitchen shears.
9
Set each turnover on the prepared baking sheets.
10
Bake for 12 minutes, until golden brown.
11
If you want to top these apple turnovers with some icing drizzle, combine the drizzle ingredients in a small bowl and adjust to your personal preferences.
12
Drizzle over the apple turnovers and allow to set before serving.

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Chill Your Puff Pastry Between Steps ❄️Keep puff pastry cold until the moment you bake—refrigerate for 15 minutes after filling and sealing to ensure maximum lift and golden, flaky layers in your turnovers.
- Mac Apple Prep with Lemon Juice 🍋Toss diced apples immediately with lemon juice and apple cider vinegar to prevent oxidation while enhancing flavor depth and preventing a mealy texture in your filling.
- Egg Wash for Golden Perfection ✨Brush turnovers with a mixture of milk and a touch of maple syrup instead of plain egg wash for a beautiful caramelized exterior that complements the sweet filling.
- Seal Edges Properly with Water 💧Use a damp finger to moisten the pastry edges before sealing, then crimp with a fork to create an airtight seal that prevents filling leakage during baking.
- Dust with Icing Sugar While Warm 🍑Apply icing sugar immediately after baking while turnovers are still warm so it adheres beautifully and creates an elegant, professional presentation.
