Tips & Tricks (5)
- Score the Sausages for Even Cooking 🔪Make shallow diagonal cuts across the sausage casings before baking to help them cook evenly from the inside out and allow seasonings to penetrate deeper, resulting in juicier links.
- Char Peppers and Onions First ✨Pre-roast your peppers and onions at 450°F for 8-10 minutes before adding sausages to caramelize their natural sugars and develop a richer, sweeter flavor base for the dish.
- Use Quality Italian Sausage Selection 🌶️Choose sausages with visible fennel seeds and herbs rather than pre-ground varieties, as they retain more flavor and won't break apart during the baking process.
- Create an Emulsified Pan Sauce 🫒Whisk the rendered sausage drippings with a splash of white wine and olive oil to create a silky sauce that coats the peppers, rather than letting it separate and pool at the bottom.
- Toast Parmesan Before Serving 🧀Broil the finished dish for 2-3 minutes after sprinkling Parmesan to create a golden, slightly crispy cheese crust that adds textural contrast and intensifies the umami flavor.
