Tips & Tricks (5)
- Muddle Blackberries Gently 🫐Press blackberries lightly in the shaker to release juices and oils without crushing seeds into bitter fragments—aim for 3-4 gentle presses with the muddler.
- Make Blackberry Syrup in Advance 🍯Prepare your blackberry syrup 24 hours ahead and store refrigerated; this deepens the flavor and allows you to assemble cocktails in seconds during entertaining.
- Chill All Glassware First 🧊Place your rocks glass in the freezer for at least 15 minutes before serving to maintain the cocktail's temperature and prevent dilution from melting ice.
- Balance Sweetness with Fresh Lime 🍋Always use freshly squeezed lime juice over bottled—the acidity perfectly balances the blackberry syrup's sweetness and brightens the bourbon's oak notes.
- Layer Spirits for Depth 🥃Add elderflower liqueur last in your shaker to create subtle floral notes that complement rather than overpower the blackberry and bourbon foundation.
