Chipotle Ranch Veggie Burgers
For the Chipotle Ranch Sauce
For the Burgers
For Serving
Instructions
1
Start by making the chipotle ranch sauce. In a small food processor or blender, combine yogurt (or sour cream), mayonnaise, chipotle peppers, lime juice, dill, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. Blend until completely smooth. Chill until ready to use.
2
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Season black bean burger patties with salt and pepper to your liking. Once oil is hot, add the patties and cook for 3-5 minutes on each side, or until browned and firmed up.
3
Top patties with cheese slices and cover the pan with a lid to lightly melt. Warm or toast buns.
4
To assemble the burgers, spread a tablespoon of chipotle ranch on each of the top and bottom buns. Add the patties with cheese, tomato, red onion, and lettuce. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Toast Your Buns for Texture 🍞Lightly butter and toast your hamburger buns on a skillet until golden—this prevents them from becoming soggy and adds a subtle, nutty flavor that complements the smoky chipotle ranch.
- Make Ranch Sauce Ahead 🌶️Prepare your chipotle ranch 2-4 hours in advance and refrigerate; this allows the flavors to meld and intensify, creating a more complex and cohesive sauce than serving it fresh.
- Char Your Veggie Patties 🔥Use medium-high heat to develop a crispy, caramelized crust on both sides of the patties (2-3 minutes per side), which adds textural contrast and deepens the smoky flavors in your burger.
- Layer Your Toppings Strategically 🥬Place lettuce and tomato directly on the bottom bun first to create a moisture barrier that protects the bun from the wet sauce and patty juices.
- Balance Chipotle Heat with Lime 🍋Squeeze fresh lime juice into your ranch sauce and over assembled burgers just before serving—the acidity brightens the dish and cuts through the richness while tempering the heat from the chipotle peppers.
