Tips & Tricks (5)
- Pat Dry for Perfect Browning 🎯Pat cod fillets completely dry with paper towels before seasoning to ensure the butter creates a golden crust and prevents steaming during baking.
- Toast Your Spices First 🧄Bloom the garlic powder and paprika in the melted butter for 30 seconds before adding the fish to deepen their flavors and eliminate any raw taste.
- Check Doneness by Flaking 🍽️Cod is perfectly cooked when it flakes easily with a fork at the thickest point—overcooking by even 2 minutes makes it dry and rubbery.
- Lemon Zest Before Juice 🍋Add fresh lemon zest along with the juice at the end for bright, complex citrus notes that regular lemon juice alone cannot provide.
- Room Temperature Matters ⏱️Remove cod from the refrigerator 10 minutes before cooking so it cooks evenly throughout without drying out the exterior while the center finishes cooking.
