Tips & Tricks (5)
- Sear Your Pork Chops First 🔥Brown the bone-in pork chops in olive oil for 2-3 minutes per side before adding to the slow cooker to develop a rich crust and deeper flavor that elevates the entire dish.
- Sauté Mushrooms and Onions Separately 🍄Cook the fresh mushrooms and yellow onions in the same pan used for searing to caramelize them properly, which adds concentrated umami flavor that the canned soups alone cannot provide.
- Combine Broths for Superior Gravy 🥣Use beef broth instead of water and add it to the cream soups to create a richer, more complex gravy that won't taste one-dimensional or overly heavy.
- Avoid Overcrowding and Cook on Low 🐌Cook on low for 6-7 hours rather than high to ensure the pork chops become melt-in-your-mouth tender without drying out or becoming mushy from excessive moisture.
- Thicken Gravy at the End ✨Mix cornstarch with cold water to create a slurry and stir it in during the last 30 minutes of cooking to achieve a luxurious, spoonable gravy consistency without watering down the flavors.
